Day 01: Cusco-Cachora(3350m)-Chiquisca(1930m)

TRAIL - Private english spoken service

We will take a transport that will bring us to the north-west side of Cusco (3300m), crossing the mountains. In the highest part of this ride we will cross the Pampa area of Anta and the pass that carries the same name, a great place to observe magnificent snow-peaks such as Salkantay (6264m) or Humantay (5217m).

During our transport we'll get of the transport to visit picturesque little villages such as Limatambo or Curahuasi, with pleasant climates and a big road with granite-rocks all the way crossing the mountains. Soon we'll pass the highest point of our journey; a place where is situated a small village with archeological remains called Saywite (3600m). This is the best place to change direction and go to the town of Cachora (2850m) to start trekking.

In order to be prepared to everything we'll have horsemen and mules riding with us during this adventure. You'll be able to appreciate in his whole beauty the snowed peak of Pedrayoc (5771m) and pretty soon we'll arrive at the pass of Capuliyoc (2800m) from where we'll go down to our camp site of Chiquisca (1830m).

We'll be walking about 7 hours in a mild and hot temperature with many mosquitoes.

The landscape remains so beautiful with a great natural wealth as well in flora as fauna and with constant climatically unique changes within the area of the Cordillera of Vilcabamba. Trekking-time will be about 8 hours with warm temperatures during the day and cold temperatures at night-time.

Carmen Huerto will be the best place to have a campsite. Our trekking-time will be about 5 hours in a gentle warm climate with mosquitoes.
