This trek of two days is a good manner to traverse very beautiful regions to the point of view of the landscapes and to have contact with the local people, participating thus to equitable tourism.  Two days of trek, a night in house of inhabitants in the andean alto Community of Patakancha, for next to take the train heading for Machu Picchu Pueblo.  Visit of the site the next day and return on Cusco.

This the detailled program, day after day...

Day 01: Cusco-Lares-Maraniyuc

TREK - English speaking private service

Transfer early in the morning from your hotel to Lares, 3H of road from cusco.

Once on the spot, the mules are ready to leave. Noticeable swimming in the thermal baths before. 

Departure of lares. it is necessary for us close to an hour of walk to join the Puente Tambohuaylla. we climb back up next a more steep-sided valley. The vegetation begins changing for we win in altitude, she shrinks progressively of the climbed till attain the Laguna Yanacocha to the brod of which is located a superb wood of altitude, invaded by lichens and other plants.  The climbing continues alongside a crest.  Walk till the pass, descent and keyed up towards Maraniyoq, place of our camp.

Day 02: Maraniyoq-Patacancha

After a breakfast with a plunging view on a covered plateaus of small lakes of altitude and the mountain range of the panoramic visible Vilcanota, we leave towards the Community of Patakancha.  We pass several small high altitude pass.  The walking is pleasant for we realized the hardest one yesterday.  Sparse houses are located here and there.  It is astonishing to see that of the families of farmers live of a normal manner to such a altitude: we are very often above 4000m. Flocks of llamas punctuate our walk.  Arriving to the lake and pass of Meloq and descent on Patakancha, small community above Ollantaytambo.

Day 03: Patacancha-Ollantaytambo-Machupicchu Pueblo

English speaking private service

Breakfast in house of inhabitant.  The contacts is established since the day before with the welcome family in Patakancha and it is often difficult to have to say good-bye.  A vehicle awaits us to transport us to Ollantaytambo.  Once on the spot, according to the train schedules, departure towards the town of Machupicchu Pueblo since the train station of Ollantaytambo.

Night in Machupicchu Pueblo.

Day 04: Machupicchu-Cusco

English speaking private service

In the morning very early, climbing in bus to the traces of Machupicchu and visit of the site with your guide.  Machupicchu was discovered scientifically July 24 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham, of the University of Yale.  What one can say is that the city perfectly was organized and was part of all a network of disseminated sites alongside the superb way that there drives.

Return on Cusco by train in the afternoon.
