Ollantaytambo-Machupicchu-Ollantaytambo(2850m)-Cusco Very early in the morning, you take the train to Machupicchu, go up by bus to the vestiges of Machupicchu and visit the site with your guide. Machupicchu was scientifically discovered on July 24, 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham, of the University of Yale. What one can say, it is that the city was perfectly organized and formed part of a whole network of sites disseminated along the superb way which led there. The Salt Pits of Maras are salt terraces which have been exploted for thousand of years, surely before the Inca hegemony.
